INSTRUCTIONS
Clean glass surface with soap. Rinse well. Dry well. |
Place pattern under glass and fasten with masking tape. |
Outline the design with LIQUID LEAD (see instructions for LIQUID LEAD on MODGE PODGE).
Wait for lead to dry well – approximately 1 hour. |
Do not shake the stain bottles – this creates air bubbles, rather stir if settling occurs.
Dip a polydropper into the stain and press the bulb gently to soak up the stain.
Now gently flood the outlined area with stain. |
Flood the outlined areas with as much GLASS STAIN as the “dam” will hold. It will dry and contract flat. |
If bubbles for, suck them back into the dropper immediately by gently squeezing the bulb to force air out
and then place dropper over bubble and release, or prick air bubbles with a pin. |
Leave the glass object flat for at least 6-12 hours to allow stain to dry well. |
If lights holes occur, reflood colour. |
TOP TIPS
- Area to be painted must be horizontal – GLASS STAIN will run down the window if not placed flat.
- For shading your design, apply one colour on one side of a section and another colour on the
other side. Using the nozzle bottle or a toothpick, streak the two colours into each other.
- For a marbled effect, flood area with a light colour. Use a toothpick to drop a tiny amount of
a darker colour into light colour and swirl toothpick carefully.
- If you have made a mistake wait for colour to dry, score with a craft knife and lift out dry paint
or if paint is still wet soak an earbud in acetone and wipe away mistake.
- For a pearly effect, add Opalescent No 18. This will change the transparency of colours.
- Use GLASS STAIN in conjunction with TEXTURE FROST, DECCRA-LED, ETCHING PASTE/FLUID.
- Be careful not to touch the glass while working on your project as this will leave oil spots where
the stain will lift.
- GLASS STAIN will fade in direct sunlight.
